Voice

Pre-Screen Recording Requirements

All prospective undergraduate voice applicants must submit a prescreen recording in order to be considered for a live audition. Prescreen recordings should be submitted as a part of the music application. Video recording is preferred.  

Audition notifications will be sent via email on or before December 22, 2017.

String

Violin, Viola, Cello

Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music Education, Music Minor

  1. Movement of an unaccompanied work by Bach, performed from memory
  2. First movement of a standard major concerto, or comparable single-movement work, performed from memory
  3. Standard etude
Double Bass

Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music Education, Music Minor

Piano

A prescreen recording is required for all prospective undergraduate piano applicants (BA, BM, BME, BM/BME, or minor). Your prescreen recording should be uploaded as a part of your music application

Jazz Studies

Undergraduate Audition Requirements

All prospective jazz applicants should be prepared to discuss previous performance experience, teachers, and method books used in study. Please bring your own mp3 or CD accompaniment, and/or we will provide any of the Aebersold play-a-long recordings for all auditions.

Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education

Jazz Saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano and bass (acoustic preferred)

Theory

Bachelor of Music

Applications for the theory major are accepted from students who are already a part of the School of Music. Students new to the School of Music should apply for either a performance or education major with their major instrument. See the applicable audition entrance audition requirements here. Once in the School of Music, then you may speak with the theory faculty about becoming a theory major.
