Madly in love with the young virtuoso violinist Stefi Geyer, Béla Bártok composed a violin concerto to express his affection for her. When she ended their relationship, he hid the concerto and expressed his grief in the writing of his first string quartet. A lecture on this tale of love and loss will be followed by a performance of a portion of Bártok's first string quartet followed by a complete performance of his first violin concerto. Collaborative musicians include Dr. Jessica McKee, piano, Amir Nasseri, violin, Seth Goodman, viola, and Syneve Colle, cello.

Health + Safety

All patrons 12 years of age and older are required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 48 hours of the performance for entry into the venue (home tests will NOT be accepted).
