Summer Programs at the UMD School of Music


Clarinet Academy of America
June 25 - 29, 2018

The Clarinet Academy of America is 5-day summer program presented by the clarinet professors at The University of Maryland and The University of Georgia, Robert DiLutis and D. Ray McClellan, respectively. Hosted annually by both university campuses on a rotating basis, the CAA offers a host of trainings, masterclasses, performances, private lessons, and chamber music coachings. Learn more here


UMD High School Music Academy
The UMD High School Music Academy brings students entering grades 9-12 to the UMD School of Music for a 5-day, comprehensive exploration of music-making with our renowned faculty. With the goal of cultivating well-rounded young musicians, our Academy provides a lively and supportive setting in which students will participate in a variety of master classes, ensembles, and discussions. FAME Summer Music Technology Program
July 9 - July 13 and July 16 - July 20

Launched in 2011, The Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education (FAME) Music Technology Summer Program gives students entering grades 7 through 12 the opportunity to explore cutting-edge recording software, experiment with music composition, and learn about and prepare for education and career opportunities in music. Read more.


NEW!  Vocal Workshop
July 16 – July 20
Students, rising 9th - 12th Graders,  will learn many techniques, strengthen and build their vocal capacity, perform sight-reading/sight-singing exercises, collaborate with program participants and/or work independently to create an archival recording of an original composition or cover an existing work(s).  Read more



UMD Summer Youth Music Camp
Band: July 22- July 27 . Choir/Orchestra: July 29 - August 3
