Read what you missed – NOI Festival in the News.

The National Orchestral Institute at the University of Maryland School of Music is a four-week program of intensive study covering orchestral performance, chamber music, and professional development. NOI offers its participants important tools for professional success and musical fulfillment, as well as preparation for the vital challenges facing 21st century musicians. With its distinguished twenty-one year history of preparing the young orchestral player of the future, alumni of NOI have gone on to win positions in virtually all the major U.S. symphony orchestras including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic.

A preliminary week of chamber music and conductorless chamber orchestras opens the festival coached by members of Orpheus and stars from the world of professional chamber music. This is followed by three weeks of full orchestral programs led by renowned conductors and coached by many of the country's finest orchestral players. The final week will also place special emphasis on great works of our time for orchestra and chamber ensembles in a celebration called New Lights. Throughout the program, a series of innovative guest speakers will address the nature of the enlivening opportunities facing the classical musician of today. NOI students are committed to playing a primary and creative role in the expanding future of orchestras as art-makers and servants of the public good.
