Scholarship Benefit Series

Dr. Suzanne Beicken, Producer

The Scholarship Benefit Series of the UM School of Music has presented outstanding faculty artists in concert with students and special guests for more than a quarter of a century. Created by Dr. Paul Traver in 1975, the Scholarship Benefit Series presents up to six concerts per year to raise money for undergraduate Music scholarships. The Series is a featured component of the School's busy concert season each year, spanning numerous musical genres.

Recent SBS performers have included mezzo-soprano Delores Ziegler, oboist Mark Hill, violinist David Salness, bass-baritone Fran├žois Loup, pianist Santiago Rodriguez, soprano Carmen Balthrop, and other distinguished faculty. The legendary Guarneri String Quartet, in residence at the UM School of Music since 1982, is a popular mainstay of the Series. Other offerings change each season, highlighting the diverse offerings and talents within the School. The Scholarship Benefit Series is produced by Dr. Suzanne Beicken.
