Degree Recitals - Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Publications Office located? The Publications Office is located above the Applause Café, in Room 3302. To find the office, go up the stairs alongside of the Applause Café and walk through the student lounge. Room 3302 is next to the elevator.

Why do I have to submit a hard copy of my program to the Publications Office? It is important that we receive a hard copy of your program because if technical/e-mail problems prevent the electronic submission of your program, we will have a record of it. We can then contact you to let you know that we did not receive the electronic copy of your program. Most importantly, the hard copy is used as a guide for type-styling and as a reference document. (Note: Instructor's signature of approval must appear on the hard copy of Student Recital Programs.)

Will the Publications staff proofread the content of my program? The Publications staff is NOT responsible for proofreading your program. It is imperative that your program information has gone through an exhaustive editing and proofing process prior to submission.

I am having trouble with spelling and capitalization of foreign language titles on my program. Which sources are helpful?

What happens if I miss the deadline to submit my program for printing? If you miss the deadline, you may download the Student Recital Program Template. It is a Microsoft Word file. (NOTE: A pop-up window will ask you whether you want to open or save the file. SAVE it to your computer as a Microsoft Word document.) If you have trouble downloading the file, please contact us at 301-405-3048 or at cscpublications@umd.edu. Another helpful hint: When you print your program, select landscape rather than portrait.

Can I include program notes and translations in the recital programs? No, we cannot include this information in the programs due to space limitations. However, you are welcome to create your own program notes as an insert, and give them to the house manager to be distributed with your program. Photocopying and delivery to the house staff is your responsibility.
