Student Degree Recital: Michael Helgerman D.M.A. Oboe

College of Arts and Humanities | School of Music | The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center Sunday, March 13, 2022 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Gildenhorn Recital Hall

Join us in person at The Clarice.

The concert etude, a genre that has long stood in other instrumental canons, has just begun to blossom in the oboe's repertoire. Written primarily in the last 25 years, this new literature area naturally synchronizes with modern musical genres (such as jazz and pop) and art forms (including impressionist and contemporary paintings), allowing an oboist to create performances that tie diverse source material to the instrument's canon. This lecture recital will highlight the origins of the concert etude for oboe and argue for the continued expansion of the genre, due to its inherent pedagogical and artistic value.

Health + Safety

All patrons 12 years of age and older are required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 48 hours of the performance for entry into the venue (home tests will NOT be accepted).

Please see our Health + Safety page for more information.
