Student Degree Recital: Merzana Kostreci M.M. Piano

College of Arts and Humanities | School of Music | The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center Monday, March 28, 2022 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Gildenhorn Recital Hall

Join us in person at The Clarice or watch the livestream from the comfort of your home.

Classical pianist Merzana Kostreci performs her M.M. graduation recital with a versatile and colorful choice of repertoire. The program opens with Beethoven’s "Appassionata," which displays classical form, but is a romantic work in essence. All works after the intermission can be characterized as program music (music which takes inspiration from non-musical narratives). Three movements from Albeniz's "Suite Española" op. 47 represent various regions and dances of Spain. Maurice Ravel’s "Ondine," inspired by poetry of Aloysius Bertrand, depicts the seduction of a water nymph. Finally, the recital closes with one of the most popular piano works, inspired by Gypsy motives: Franz Liszt’s "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2."
