Prior to CBDNA, members of UMWO peformed Reich's work twice at the Clarice Smith Center: first with eighth blackbird, a Grammy-winning contemporary music sextet who commissioned and premiered the piece; and second on UMWO's first spring concert, "The Poetry of Joseph Schwantner".
The UMD Wind Orchestra is one of eleven bands chosen from a large pool of applicants to perform at the 2013 Conference. These select ensembles are regarded as among the most elite wind bands in the country.
