Daria Volchok Wins UMSO Concerto Competition

Graduate student in piano Daria Volchok was named winner of the 2006 University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. As the winner of this year's competition, Volchok will appear in concert with the acclaimed UMSO next season, performing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 on Friday, October 27, 2006. Volchok is a second year master's student of Santiago Rodriguez. First runner-up Jun-Young Park performed Berg's Violin Concerto. Second runner-up, harpist Cara Fleck, performed Ravel's Introduction and Allegro.
