The UM School of Music is thrilled to announce the addition of two new bass faculty members, highly sought-after chamber musician Anthony Manzo and Assistant Principal of the NSO Richard Barber.
- Anthony Manzo has been appointed Lecturer of Double Bass. Manzo is a regular guest with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Smithsonian Chamber Players, and Solo Bassist of San Francisco’s New Century Chamber Orchestra. Previously, he was a member of the New World Symphony, the Bergen Philharmonic in Norway, and the Munich Chamber Orchestra in Germany.
- Richard Barber has been appointed Lecturer of Double Bass. Barber is currently the Assistant Principal of the National Symphony Orchestra and a frequent performer with the 21st Century Consort, the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, and the Fessenden Ensemble. Prior to his appointment with the NSO, he was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, the Grant Teton Festival Orchestra, and the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra.
Anthony Manzo and Richard Barber will officially join the UM faculty in Fall 2010.
