The UMD School of Music has received the Outstanding Community Partner Award from The Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education (FAME). The award, which is presented to a community entity that has partnered with FAME on programs related to music and/or education, recognizes the School of Music’s FAME Summer Music Technology Camp.
Launched in 2011, the FAME Summer Music Technology Camp brings Prince George's County students in grades 8 through 12 into a technology-rich, creativity-based learning environment that is not typically accessible during the school year. Students explore cutting-edge recording software, experiment with music composition, and prepare for education and career opportunities in music. This creativity-based and technology-rich training is not typically accessible during the school year, and helps students gain skills for advanced placement in schools and employment in technology.
