NOTICE OF FACULTY VACANCY -– Beginning August, 2014

TITLE:   Artist Teacher of Violin and Chamber Music (Position #104283)

RANK and SALARY:  Assistant (tenure track) or Associate Professor (with or without tenure),

POSITION SUMMARY: The String Division of the University of Maryland School of Music seeks a candidate with an established record of excellence in violin performance and teaching, having a graduate degree in performance or commensurate professional experience including strong credentials in chamber music performance and instruction. The successful candidate will: teach a full studio of violin students, recruit outstanding graduate and undergraduate students, mentor and advise students in all performance degree programs; coach chamber music and creatively contribute to the school’s unique chamber music program; perform at the School of Music and pursue a performance career at the national and international levels; pursue any other relevant creative activities or research interests; serve on faculty committees at the School, College and University levels; participate in national organizations and networking within the discipline; work in a collaborative and collegial community of faculty, staff, students and administration.

QUALIFICATIONS: The School of Music will consider applicants with a long and established record of teaching, recruiting and performing at the highest levels of the discipline, as well as applicants who present outstanding potential in these areas. An advanced degree in music or commensurate professional experience is preferred.
