_______

In order to be considered for participation in the UMD High School Music Academy, all applicants must apply and upload a video recording OR register for a live audition. Audio-only recordings will not be accepted.

Our live audition will take place at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland on Saturday, March 24, 2018 and Sunday, March 25, 2018. Live audition times will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis, so please apply as soon as possible to reserve your place!

Students who register for the live audition will receive details, including audition time and specific location, after they register. The repertoire requirements are the same for the live audition. An accompanist is not required. Students who choose to submit a recorded audition will not be at a disadvantage.

What to expect in your live audition:
Upon checking in with our HSMA staff, a practice room will be made available for warm-up. When it's time for your audition, an HSMA staff member will bring you to your audition room. During the audition, you will perform for a member of High School Music Academy staff and a video camera. After your audition, the video will be made available to High School Music Academy faculty for review.

The last day we will accept the recording is March 26, 2018. Decision letters will be sent via email in April 2018.

Scholarships:

Students must indicate that they would like to apply for a scholarship through the online application. The students will then be asked to provide additional application materials. These include the email address of a private teacher or band/orchestra teacher for a recommendation, and brief responses to three questions about their interest in music and the High School Music Academy.
