The University of Maryland Repertoire Orchestra is a unique all-campus orchestra that is open to music majors, non-music majors, UMD faculty and staff, and members of surrounding communities.
Led by directors Michael Jacko and Jason Ethridge the Repertoire Orchestra rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.
The orchestra prides itself on a wide range of projects, collaborations and repertoire. The group plays Beethoven (Click to hear the orchestra perform Beethoven's Seventh Symphony), shares the stage with rock bands (Click to learn more about the New Retro Project), accompanies critically-acclaimed soloists, and forms chamber groups that play string quintets and even ragtime music.
This variety of music making is a source of pride for group members and as such, we welcome a wide variety of music-makers. Please email umro@umd.edu with any questions about group membership or to find out more about the orchestra.
Students can enroll in the UMD Repertoire Orchestra as a 1-credit course, but it is not a requirement.
