UMD Repertoire Orchestra

The University of Maryland Repertoire Orchestra is a unique all-campus orchestra that is open to music majors, non-music majors, UMD faculty and staff, and members of the University of Maryland community.

The Repertoire Orchestra rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.

The orchestra prides itself on a wide range of projects and collaborations based on the core classical orchestral repertoire. We welcome those with a wide range of musical experience. Please email with any questions about group membership or to find out more about the orchestra.

Students can enroll in the UMD Repertoire Orchestra as a 1-credit course, but it is not a requirement.

UMRO Auditions

When: First week of fall classes, details TBA. 
Where: Room 2126 in the School of Music (warm-up rooms will all be unlocked throughout the school)
How to Schedule: To schedule your six-minute audition spot, email with two available time blocks (one hour each) and you will receive a reply with a confirmed time.
What to Play: Please be prepared to perform an excerpt from the standard solo repertoire on your instrument (etude, sonata or concerto). Please choose a selection that demonstrates your best playing and that has contrasting elements. You will be asked to play a short sight-reading excerpt.
