UMD Summer Chorus

The UMD Summer Chorus is a campus/community chorus open to anyone in high school, college or beyond who wants to sing. Each year during three weeks in June and/or July the Summer Chorus rehearses and performs a major choral work with professional orchestra and soloists, led by one or more of the talented graduate students in the UMD Choral Conducting program. Past performances include Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s Harmoniemesse, Duruflé’s Requiem and Orff’s Carmina Burana.

This year, the UMD Summer Chorus will present an evening of sacred masterworks from the late 18th century led by graduate student conductors Minji Kim and Kathryn Hylton. Mozart's expressive psalm settings of the Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, K. 339 are featured along with the beloved Mass in B-flat Major (Kleine Orgelmesse/Little Organ Mass) by Haydn.
