The Maryland Chorus was retired from performance in May 2009. Details here.

Over the next 18 years, the Chorus performed many of the major works in the repertoire, as well as lesser known and newly composed works with the NSO. The Chorus also made recordings and participated in radio and television broadcasts.
Beginning in 1981, the Chorus embarked on a twenty-year project performing the oratorios of George Frideric Handel as part of the new Maryland Handel Festival. Between 1981 and 2001, the UM Chorus performed all of Handel's dramatic English oratorios, in chronological order of composition, and in their original form as first presented by the composer. These concerts led to invitations for the Chorus to perform at the Handel Festival in Halle, Germany, and provided the opportunity for the Chorus to make a professional recording of the 1984 performance of Messiah in Washington Cathedral.
The Maryland Chorus celebrated its 40th Anniversary with a holiday tribute concert in December 2008, dedicated to founder Dr. Paul Traver. The ensemble presented its final concert in the Spring of 2009 with a program of Fauré and Bach.
