The percussion program offers many opportunities for students to perform in several different ensemble arrangements. The numerous small and large ensembles available in the School of Music ensure that students receive a well-rounded performance education.
The Percussion Ensemble is a particularly unique experience for percussion students. Conducted by Lee Hinkle, this group performs at least once a semester and studies a wide array of standard, modern, popular and novelty works. From Mozart to Metheny; Reich to Row-Loff; PE is always interesting and fun!
Other ensemble opportunities include, but are not limited to, the UMD Symphony Orchestra, the UMD Wind Orchestra, the UMD Wind Ensemble and the jazz bands. Learn more.
Most, if not all, of the ensembles perform in the exceptional facilities at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, which house six state-of-the-art venues, three of which are used extensively by music students and ensembles.
