Dr. Patricia A. Cunniff, Chair


Pat is an adjunct science professor at the University of Maryland University College and a docent at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. She holds a PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Maryland College Park and served as a faculty member and administrator at Prince George's Community College (PGCC) from 1972 to 2004. As Dean of Sciences, Mathematics and Health Technologies at PGCC, Pat oversaw five departments; and in 1997, she was awarded the President's Medal, the highest award given at PGCC. That same year, she was given the TIAA-CREF Hesburgh Award, National Certificate of Excellence for the PGCC Science and Technology Resource Center. Pat also served as the first Science Policy Fellow for the American Chemical Society. During her tenure at PGCC, Pat developed and directed grants from federal agencies, foundations, and non-profits totaling in excess of $3.8M. Many of these involved community colleges, four year institutions, and industry across the United States. She has been a board member since 2007 and completed her officer’s term as secretary in the spring of 2013
